Welcome here on the wonderfull world of Slurp.

a Small Introduction

Slurp is a project whose aim is to browse web pages offlines.
Also it can grab whole sites, mirror pages and so on ...
This soft was writen in java (100 % pure java rules), in about 2 weeks for a school project.
All was developped under Linux and Jdk 1.1.7 . This works fine now with java 2 !
Slurp has been tested on :

• Linux (rh 5.1) with Jdk 1.1.7 and Swing v1.03 : No pb !
• Solaris and jdk 1.1.7 : no pb!
• Solaris and jdk 1.2 : rocks !!
• Windows 98 and jdk 1.2 : works fine. Display of html page quite good

This is our very first version, so Slurp isn't full implemented as we want (we would like final results as good as wget has).

• Slurp can get pages, follows links (options given has parameters : you can specify number of children ou want to get and their location (everywhere, same server, same server in a directory under main pages).
• You can specify the number of threads you want to grab your web pages.
• Slurp manage files type download (you can choose what kind of files you want or you don't want).
• Proxy and disk quota are managed too.

• First of all, we have to write the conversion of the links in the getted web pages to be local.
• correct all bugs =)

• Socket timeout freeze Slurp.
• Button Stop doesn't close threads !! (bad implementation of threads in java).
• Tree doesn't refresh when slurp get new files !!
• Display of html (depends of jdk version. Display's quite good on java 2)
